Letter from Fr. Juan (LXXXIII)

My Dearest Magdala Family and Friends,

I'm writing to you from Mexico City, where I've been for a few days handling some matters. Yesterday, I had the grace to concelebrate the Eucharist with Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, the Primate Archbishop of Mexico, and offer it for peace in the Holy Land and the Middle East. Pope Leo did this as well, asking all believers to unite in prayer for world peace.

It's true that our hearts are on edge with the ongoing conflict, and we feel a deep sense of helplessness. But our hope and faith tell us in these moments that we must trust in God. The intricate threads of human history are mysteriously woven with both good and evil, but God has overcome the world.

What's more, we're in the novena preparing for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which we'll celebrate this Friday. The words of the short prayer, "Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You," really resonate in our hearts. Yes, trusting in God lifts us far above the struggles of the moment— not in a spiritual escape or a simple, selfish detachment, but in the certainty that God's power triumphs. If we look at human history, those who trust have always been the ones who prevail.

Meanwhile, some special events have been on our minds. I'd love to briefly revisit the inauguration of the Pentecost Room, which happened on June 7th and 8th. We were so blessed to experience it during a time of greater tranquility. The Cardinal Patriarch of Jerusalem, Pierbattista Pizzabala, honored us with his presence and his words. Many friends, benefactors and faithful were able to participate both in person and digitally, for both the preparatory novena and the event itself. We now hold vivid memories of those days, with the joy of knowing that the Holy Spirit descended upon the Church two thousand years ago and has remained with her and within her. The Holy Spirit, whose gifts and fruits we so desperately need, is our eternal comfort and support. To Him we direct our fervent plea to guide the destinies of peoples, and the hearts and minds of the leaders who govern nations and decide their paths. "Come, Holy Spirit, come."

And now, the final pages of the calendar are truly flying by before our Magdala Encounter 2025 in Madrid! We're now less than a month away. Just a reminder that you can still register until July 15th. With great joy, I've greeted many people these past few days who will be traveling from Mexico for those days of faith, fellowship, prayer and pilgrimage. We also entrust this event to the Heart of Jesus and His powerful love, so that all who attend may receive every grace and gift God wishes to pour into their hearts.

See you in Madrid! In the meantime, we continue to sincerely thank you for your support and prayers during this time when we need them so much.

Fraternally, Fr Juan María Solana LC and the Magdala Team
