We are pleased to inform you that Magdala will be wearing pink to raise awareness on social media about the early detection of breast cancer and support those who are fighting against it.
According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, in 2013, breast cancer was the most common cause of death due to cancer worldwide for females. It is the fifth most common cancer overall, with around 522,000 deaths from breast cancer in 2012 (15% of female deaths and 6% of the total).
As a place where all women are honored, we feel responsible for supporting all women and men going through this trial. We must all get involved on such an important issue that this society faces. Magdala remembers women’s lives lost due to cancer and honors those who are fighting against it. During this October at the Women’s Atrium of Magdala, all women on earth who have left their mark as fighters and survivors throughout history will be honored and remembered for their strength, beauty and love.
Visitors will be able to take a minute to pray for all women and those who are fighting breast cancer at the women’s pillar, located in the Women’s Atrium. The atrium remembers and honors all women rooted in faith. Its significance comes from depicting women’s dignity, strength, beauty, elegance and influence throughout history, highlighting the first women followers of Jesus.
We invite you to get involved to promote the cause through social media with the hashtag #PinkPrayer, and wear the pink ribbon in mutual support with Magdala and those affected by breast cancer.
