Dear friends of Magdala:
As you know, in Israel, Magdala is called “The Mexican Project”.
It is for this reason that in this message we want to convey to Mexico and all other countries that have gone through natural disasters, our affection and sympathy, and especially our prayers in these tragic moments.
We follow the events carefully, we care about our relatives and friends. We address this prayer to God for the victims and their families:
“Lord, in this moment of suffering for the People of Mexico, United States, and other countries that are suffering because of natural disasters, we want to unite in prayer with all those who invoke you; we want to unite in solidarity with all those who suffer; we want to unite in love with each and every person who is helping the needy with respect and humanity.
We ask that you fill everyone with your love and care.
We ask you for those who have preceded us to your Holy Presence so that you may receive them with mercy. We ask you especially for those who can help at this time to organize, to heal, to help, to comfort, to be more humane and supportive.
Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the People of Mexico, help us in our need, show yourself tender and merciful Mother, embrace your children in your lap of love. Show us in these circumstances the way to be better children and siblings. Amen.”
This new catastrophe also comes at an important and joyful moment for the Jewish people: The eve of their New Year 5778. We present this mix of feelings before the loving presence of God. In Magdala, which has been defined as a “crossroads of Jewish and Christian history,” we unite in prayer and solidarity for all who need it at this time.
With love, we wish you a Shana Tova.
From all of us at the Magdala team: Legionaries of Christ, Consecrated of Regnum Christi, volunteers and friends.
