Dear Friends of Magdala,

Over the past couple months we have enjoyed a variety of important events at Magdala as well as an ever-increasing number of visitors coming to the site.

In early March the Magdalena Institute hosted a very successful fourth annual Women’s Symposium and earlier this month we were one of the selected locations for Christian singer Michael W. Smith’s concert in the Holy Land.

Furthermore on April 8th we were blessed to celebrate the Feast of Mary Magdalene for the local church with the company of many friends and the local Christian community. The Apostolic Administrator, Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, alongside H.E. Msgr. Leopoldo Girelle, Apostolic Nuncio to Israel and Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine, H.E. Msgr. Giacinto Boutros-Marcuzzo, Auxiliary Bishop for the Latin Patriarchate, and over 20 priests from different communities celebrated mass in Duc In Altum.

Additionally, construction continues on the Magdala Guesthouse – see gallery update – and we are very much looking forward to showing strong progress through the next months and having our goal to open in the beginning of 2019.
