Dear Magdala Family,
The month of June might seem a bit gray to some. For us, it is not.
In the Catholic tradition, June is the month of the Sacred Heart. That is, it is the month in which we contemplate the love of God with greater intensity, expressed in the heart of Jesus.
In the Jewish-Christian tradition, the heart is the center of the human being, the synthesis of our being, actions, and values. If someone is a good person, we say, “he has a golden heart,” If someone is mean, we say, “he has a heart of stone.” The heart is a reflection of our being. That is why the Catholic tradition, validated by apparitions and the lives of great saints, contemplates Jesus and looks at his Most Sacred Heart. The one pierced by a spear on Calvary, from which “blood and water came out.”
Looking at “the one who was pierced” is to enter his heart and discover his love and infinite dedication for us, to sympathize with us, and to donate all his most intimate riches.
The month of the Sacred Heart should be a profound joy for us. To rejoice that God loves us madly, even to the madness of “giving up his Son for us.”
While we enjoy all these thoughts and celebrations, we prepare for Magdala’s first Youthfest, “Encounter 2023” which will take place from July 21-31. There are only a few spots left. Don’t forget to sign up to come and spend some incredible days gathering with young people and people young at heart: sing, walk, pray, and share with us! Come to enlarge your heart with an experience that can enlighten and change your life.
We are also entering summertime in the Northern Hemisphere, a time for rest and vacation, and most importantly, a time to be with family. Hopefully, it’s family time. We have to share with our loved ones, live in serenity, away from the everyday rush of life. We wish everyone one of you a restoring and serene summer.
We hope to have news about the volunteer house soon.
As always, we ask for the support of your prayers.
Fraternally,
Fr. Juan María Solana, L.C. and the Magdala team.
