The account of the Exodus, when Pharaoh and his armies go into the Red Sea, reminds us that there is an important analogy between the Exodus of the Hebrew people from Egypt and Lent, which leads us to the joys of Easter! Just as the Lord promised to bring the people out of their affliction, so too, the journey of Lent is a Paschal journey through the tomb to the Resurrection of Easter. We are “on the march” into the land of milk and honey, but the journey isn’t easy. Jesus took this journey from death into new Life, and He joins us on our journey this Lent.
