Day 3: Drawn From the Water

Moses’s beginnings in a basket in the waters of the Nile led him back to his mother, who saved him from death. From a people oppressed by slavery, Moses leads us on the path of the Commandments of God. Such a pivotal leader to his people, having been drawn out from the water and back to life, Moses prefigures Jesus Christ himself.

It is through Moses’ conscience (God speaking inside of him) that he is able to know the clarity of the voice of the Supreme Good, who is God. So too, for us, it is essential to be sufficiently present to ourselves. “Return to your conscience, question it, turn inward brethren, and in everything you do, see God as your witness” (St. Augustine).
