Day 29: 4th Commandment: Civil Authorities

Gratitude is so important, especially your gratitude for those who gave you life. This attitude calls you to: Obedience, Docility, Patience, Forgiveness, Charity, and Respecting, “parents in the faith.”

As Proverbs reminds us to “keep your father’s commandments and do not forget your mother’s teaching.” So may we strive to anticipate their wishes, seek their advice and accept their just admonitions. This act is a wonderful reminder that our duty to friends, teachers, and employers, and theirs to us, is for the purpose of life rightly lived. Jesus, our Way, Truth, and Life, was a perfect example for us, for even in his relation to unjust authority, he trusted in Divine Providence.
