This beautiful Church dedicated to the holy Mother of God, Mary, is a testament to those who followed the Commandments, especially the Tenth Commandment. Their devotion to God’s law enabled them to come here to Venerate her, Our Mother Most Pure. Even poverty can’t stand in our way of banishing our desires for whatever does not belong to us if we follow this advice from this saint with a “mouth of gold” (the very meaning of his name):

“Yet, when we must put aside our wrath, quench our envy, soften our anger, offer our prayers, and show a disposition which is reasonable, mild, kindly, and loving, how could poverty stand in our way? For we accomplish these things not by spending money but by making the correct choice.” — Saint John Chrysostom.
