Magdala was formed in 2002 as the first mixed-voice chapel choir at Magdalen College, Oxford, since the foundation of the College in 1458. The choir sings services in the College Chapel on Tuesdays during term time and exists to explore English and Continental repertoire of the 15th and 16th centuries. The choir regularly performs in concert, and has recently featured on BBC Radio 3 and Channel 4's Time Team. Recordings by Magdala have been used to accompany exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the world; in 2006 a new CD release will be used for a major exhibition of drawings by Michelangelo at the British Museum. In July 2004 Magdala travelled to Bruges and have more recently returned from a tour to Genoa and Levanto. Magdala is directed by David Skinner.
